Lucton Football First XI
It has been an eventful year for the Football First XI, with a change in tactics proving to be the springboard for real success this season. Originally operating a Christmas Tree Formation (4-3-2-1), the switch was made to 3-4-3, and this helped transform the team to a free-scoring machine. Led ably upfront by Liam Evetts, with Ahmad and Jack Buttery supplying him with crosses on either side, the team used their fullbacks well, whilst relying on the engine work of Prashanta Rai, and the composed passing of captain Ade Collins. This all resulted in some stirring performances, with the young team losing out on first place by 1 point in the annual Lucton 7-aside Cup. Mem-orable moments include Liam’s 4 goal haul, Joe Marriott’s bullet-like headers and wins over Bredon, Heathfield, Llandovery and Ludlow to name a few! An excellent season with a young team bodes well for the future.
Senior House Matches
An incredibly spirited 7 a-side round-robin tournament took place this year. All boys accessed the competition and a real international flavour to the teams created very different playing styles. As ever, the matches were played in a friendly yet passionate way. Collingwood dominated, scoring 11 goals in their three matches and conceding none! Drake were 2nd again unbeaten throughout, however, drawing one of their matches led to a second place. Rodney were 3rd with two draws and a loss and Nelson were 4th managing one draw and two losses.
