Show jumping is something we are taking to new heights this year, with teams at the Royal Windsor Horse Show and at Hickstead.

Our own annual Inter-Schools Show Jumping Competition is NSEA affiliated and now provides a route to national finals. Here is a write up on the latest annual competition:

Lucton Inter-Schools Show Jumping 2017

Equestrian who jumpingThe interschool’s show jumping is now a very established event in the school’s calendar and this year was no exception to its popularity! We had nearly 20 visiting schools from all over the country and 171 entries.

It was a fabulous day and everyone worked really hard and we started at 8am, finishing after 6pm, a really long day so just as well the weather was good! Lucton pupils had a successful day, winning rosettes all over the place and many qualifying for the Grass Roots Championships at King’s Equestrian Centre in December.

We started well in Class 1 with Ted Rogers coming joint 5th and the team coming 4th, (Hannah and Freya Lawry and Ted Rogers). Class 2 went just as successfully with the Lucton team of George Jones, Hannah Lawry, Grace Marriott and Olivia Kavanagh winning and qualifying, and George came 2nd overall! Class 3: Lucton was the only team to complete out of 8 schools so again Grace, George, Megan Ferriday and Ella Campbell qualified and individually, George came 3rd and Ella 4th.

Class 4: The Lucton Black team of Seren Lloyd, Ella and Archie Jones came 4th with Seren and Mouse coming 2nd so all qualified. The Red team of Megan, Iona Fellows and Klara Tenhagen did well. Class 5 saw us coming 3rd, with Archie, Seren, Ollie Baker and Juliette Koller and Seren came 4th, this time on Dylan. Class 7 was the last class of the day with Harry Digwood winning in great style on Boy Romeo with maybe the best round of the ones I saw on the day and Rosie coming 3rd and 4th.
